I spent a good 24 hours trying to figure this out. Here is what happened:

  1. I wanted to install the IIS Rewrite Module on my server which needed Vista SP1
  2. After installing SP1, the W3SVC service refused to start
  3. I went online and tried to find solutions and couldn’t find anything.
  4. I tried going to Add/Remove windows components to uninstall Windows Activation Service (WAS) and IIS and reinstall them
  5. After reinstalling WAS, I could not reinstall IIS7 and kept getting errors like “Not all components installed successfully” (paraphrased)
  6. Essentially nothing worked. I even called Microsoft but the friendly Indian guy could not help me.

Then I said, “whatever, let’s try again” and I:

  1. Restored my computer to pre-SP1 (using windows restore)
  2. resintalled SP1
  3. got same errors
  4. tried to find a solution again and…

BAM! The wonderful Taylor Mitchell had the only solution I found that worked. Apparently, after installing SP1, my applicationHost.config file lost a setting. Read all about the solution here:

So I’ve been ripping my hair out for a few minutes trying to get a simple div to display correctly in Firefox. The puzzling thing is that it looks great in IE and doesn’t work at all in FF - something that is usually the opposite.

In any case, I’ll cut to the chase - if you’re trying to get a div to display with a min-height and you can’t, for the life of you, figure out why it’s not working in FF, simply set the div to clear on both sides like so:

.SomeClass
{
  min-height: 39px;
  clear: both;
  padding: 5px;
}

The padding is just for my purposes.
Good luck!

We are currently in Vegas… I am not going to say that it was a mistake for we are having a lot of fun and going to see Zumanity tonight, but I will say that I need to stop being an idiot. My brain is telling me that the only game that you can win money in is Texas Hold’em, but my stupidness (separate from brain) is getting me to lose all my money on stupid shit like Pai Gow and Three Card Poker. Oh, don’t get me wrong - it IS a lot of fun… but the expensive kind of fun.

As I told my sister, it’s not so much that Vegas has been kicking my ass, but if two guys were in a fight and  guy A just held guy B down and proceeded to smack him a couple of times like a girl, it wouldn’t that guy A kicked guy B’s ass, but it would still be pretty embarrassing for guy B. I am guy B.

Also, what I think is not fair is that at the Hooters casino, the higher chips don’t have any prettier girls. I feel like that the higher your chip is, the less clothes the girl should be wearing, but the $100 chips are just as PG as the $5 ones.

We know we are behind in the updates, but this is the first night that we’ve gotten to where we were going before 11:30 pm. We are now in Carlsbad, NM, but we are going to talk about Day 1 for a second:

The one thought that comes to mind is Philly is a shithole. I am personally going to do my best not to ever be there again. Even Mu, who has been fantastic throughout the trip, hated Philly so badly he almost freaked out. There were two reasons we even stopped by there - for the liberty bell and to get a cheese steak. Both were grossly disappointing. The cheese steak, the size of a medium hot dog, cost us 12 bucks and while it was not bad, it was in now way good.

Here are some awesome pictures…

Here’s what actually happened:

We were more or less an hour behind schedule all day long. We couldn’t find the Mason Dixon markers for a while, then we found them and I peed in the bushes (in the south, obviously). We arrived in DC around 7 and went for dinner at a sushi place and then some drinks.

Now it’s 1 AM and I have to get to sleep. I will post lots of pictures tomorrow.

Here is the tentative plan for tomorrow:

leave at 7
5.5 hours to

chair at fisher ferry, west main st, thomasville, nc
12:30
5 hours to

Anyone know of anything to do in Chattanooga?
